The character Oliver Poons is inspired by author, Lauryn Alyssa Wendus' real-life rescue-cat, Oliver. New characters Henry, Toby, Cappy, and Porg are inspired by real-life cats who wear clothes. The Oliver Poons Children's Company's Yellow Hats for Cats campaign raises awareness and donates funds to various animal rescue organizations and causes. This book in particular was created to raise awareness for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder found in cats, dogs, horses, and humans. Many cats with the disease wear clothes to protect their sensitive skin. We were inspired by their stories and wanted these unique cats to join the family of Oliver Poons characters!
