Make Your Own Cat Book: A New Chapter for Cute Cat Books
While here at Oli Kids Co. we’re known for our children’s books, over the years, we’ve had just as many full-grown cat lovers buy and enjoy our cat books. What began as stories for little readers turned out to have an audience of cat enthusiasts of all ages—and that’s become a fun part of our story, too.
That love of cats has taken us from picture books to tiny yellow hats worn around the world. Now, with Cute Cat Books, an extension of the Oli Kids Co. universe, we’re inviting you to make a book starring your own cat.
It Started with Books—and Some Yellow Hats
Back in 2016, we created the Yellow Hats for Cats campaign to bring cat lovers together in support of animal rescue. The idea was simple: put a yellow hat on your cat, share a photo, and help spread the word.
And people did.
Some used sticker apps to add yellow hats to their photos. Others used real hats. Some even knitted tiny yellow hats by hand. Cats from every continent joined in—including Antarctica. Yes, really.
Before AI could put a hat on anything, people were finding their own wonderfully creative ways to join the fun. Our children’s books had sparked something that reached far beyond storytime—a community of people sharing their cats, making each other smile, and bringing attention to animal rescue.
A New Way to Make Your Cat Part of the Story
Ten years later, we wanted to keep that spirit going. Our books had already found their way into the homes of so many cat lovers. Giving those readers a way to put their own cats into a book felt like a natural next chapter.
Through Cute Cat Books, you can now create a custom picture book using photos of your cat and a little about what makes them special. Whether they’re a curious explorer, a professional napper, or the household troublemaker, their personality helps shape the story.
It’s a keepsake for grown-up cat lovers, but one we think children will love just as much. After all, seeing the family cat on the couch is an everyday occurrence. Seeing them star in a picture book? That’s something worth gathering around for storytime.
